El Paso Tx – Locomotive FC had a stunning and terrible loss this past weekend away from home against Orange County SC. It’s terrible to see in many aspects, the scoreboard wasn’t the most terrible part, it was the way they played. The way this loss sets them back more from qualifying to playoffs. But there’s still hope for the El Paso team to make an impact in their first season in franchise history now hav ing seven remaining matches this regular season.
Let’s break down what we saw this past matchup and what to expect for their upcoming match at home.
Locomotive FC (2-0) Orange County SC:
It was a match we all want to forget and especially the team and the coaching staff. It was one of the most questionable performances the team has had, and with having such a complete squad on the pitch it was tough to see the lack of missed opportunities and the lack of pressure going forward and creating chances. Omar had a subpar performance missing two incredible chances where it could have put up Locomotive up early on. A missed opportunity by Sebastian Velasquez at the 6thminute of the match also had a big opportunity to open the board was also evident that the individuality was there but not the team effort in pushing forward.
Orange County took their opportunities to their full advantage and got in the net with two goals one at the 36th minute that generated from a free kick and with a beautiful header by Michael Seaton to put them up on the board. The second goal came at the 58thminute of the match with a run from Darwin Jones and made it look easy against Logan Ketterer.
Many questions originated from this performance some of them involving why Locomotive FC continues to push back so much and move the ball back when they should be creating opportunity in the front specially having such fast players on the pitch like Jerome Kiesewetter, and Omar who can clearly win a footrace towards the box. And also, when the opposing team has the ball, they give them so much space to create chances once they pass their half of the field and aren’t pressured to maybe make an error and give the team and advantage to go 1v1 against the goalie. Overall these questions its evident that Locomotive has a lot on their plate with only seven matches remining in the season the pressure is definitely on and no match will be an easy win for the team.
