Clippers Stay Undefeated Against Suns...

Los Angeles, CA.— After two straight losses, the Los Angeles Clippers (22-16) got their first win in 2019 after they defeated the Phoenix Suns 121-111 on Friday night for the third time this season.

They led by as many as 30 late in the third quarter.Phoenix was able to make a run going on a 22-5 spurt and cutting Los Angeles lead to 91-78 heading into the final quarter. Phoenix was able to cut it to 11 but were never able to get any closer.

“We understand (Phoenix) is a young team," Lou Williams said who had a 21 points (team-high). "They are putting pieces together, trying to figure out their identity. So we just come in and play hard." Danillo Gallinari also scored 21. Tobias Harris and Patrick Beverly both chipped in with 16.

Marcin Gortat had his best game as a Clipper in this young season with a double-double scoring 18 points and grabbing a game-high 13 rebounds.

"You never know with Doc, you just have to be ready. You earn your minutes. Obviously if you play well, you might earn a few more minutes. That's all I'm trying to do, help the team tlo win."

The bench outscored Phoenix 61-47.

The Phoenix Suns (9-31) are losers of 7 of their last 8 and have shown moments of a team that can put together a string of wins like they did in mid-December win they won four straight. Then they having showings like they did against Los Angeles being down by as many as 30.

“You know (coach) Larry Brown used to say, `You need the touches, you go get it," Suns coach Igor Kokoskov said.

"(Three) touches? It's on all of us."

Guard Devin Booker had a game-high 23 points (8-14) FG and TJ Warren chipper in with 20.

Phoenix surrendered 16 offensive rebounds to Los Angeles and player had more than five rebounds in the game. They host Charlotte on Sunday 1/6.
