Week 1 Fantasy Football Predictions

START EM’- LAC QB Philip Rivers; up against a depleted Kansas City defense, the absence of pro-bowler Marcus Peters, traded via LA Rams, departure of veteran LB Derrick Johnson the Chiefs aren’t as good as they once was. A Chargers running game that been improving over the years with Melvin Gordon becoming an every-down player and backup RB Austin Ekeler dual threat. Addition to many options that Phillip has with Keenan Allen, Mike Williams, speedy Travis Benjamin and the resigning of long time TE Antonio Gates. I don’t think the Chiefs would have enough to stop the explosive offense.

SIT EM’- SF QB Jimmy Garoppolo; as a starter is currently 7-0. That ends Sunday against last years #1 defense. The Niners have a speedy weapon like Marquise Goodwin but a running game that isn’t guaranteed to do great due to season ending injury of recently inquired RB Jerick McKinnon. Without a consistent running game and bond to be one dimensional Garoppolo will make a few mistakes. Vikings defensive backs Xander Rhodes and Harrison Smith ball hawking and dangerous defensive end Everson Griffen pressuring and not giving Jimmy anytime to pass a sinking ship of a 49ers offense overall.

SLEEPER- KC QB Patrick Mahomes II; It’s a risk but you gotta risk it to get the biscuit! Young gunslinger can connect for long balls with speedy receivers Tyreek Hill and Sammy Walkins over the top and don’t forget about red zone threat TE Travis Kelce. Kareem Hunt can start off explosive against a middle-of-the-pack rush defense that it can open up the passing a bit more but up against a great pass defense capable of creating turnovers and executing on mistakes the Chiefs can find themselves in a poor passing performance.

START EM’- LAR RB Todd Gurley II; “Its a no brainer!” Like Justin Bieber said. Gurley brings his A-Game every game! Up against a, what to seem to be a lost, Raiders defense without the dominedent DE Khalil Mack ,traded via CHI Bears Sept.1, to give any pressure on the edge. Jarred Goff and the talented wide outs to pass to like recently inquired WR Brandin Cooks via trade from NE, speedy Robert Woods and up and coming Copper Kupp to open up the passing game, Todd can have a monster game both on the ground and in the air.

SIT EM’- ATL RB Devonte Freeman; The Falcons season opener is against the defending Super Bowl Champs the Philadelphia Eagles. Freeman didn’t play during the preseason which means the Falcons are banking on him to be the every down running back but could have some rust to start off the game. So with the rust from the offseason plus split carries with explosive RB Tevin Coleman. Freeman is doubtful to have a big game.

SLEEPER-  BAL RB Alex Collins; Emerged as a star for the Ravens, Collins proven to be the starter and a every down RB. With a whole new receiver core such as Micheal Crabtree, John Brown and Willie Snead IV for Joe Flacco to pass to he can open the run game wide open. Up against a mediocre Buffalo defense Alex Collins can find himself as a top 10 RB in points his week.

START EM’- TEX WR DeAndre Hopkins; Returning this year QB Deshaun Watson, who threw a yard short of 1700 in his first seven games, is healthy and ready to start his sophomore year in a bang! Hopkins is the No.1 receiver, coming against a poor NE pass defense, is ready to shine week 1. Texans run game can be established and can get in the red zone DeAndre, who was 7-10 in redzone targets lat year hes is bond for a couple TDs.

SIT EM’- OAK WR Amari Cooper; The Raiders are facing the tough Los Angeles Rams defense with new faces CB Marcus Peters via trade with KC and CB Aqib Talib via trade from Denver, resigning of pro-bowler DE Aaron Donald, and new signee run stopper DT Ndamukong Suh. The Raiders are gonna have trouble keeping the pocket from collapsing for Derek Carr to pass. The running game is up in the air due to all of the rams defense. No run game no passing game. Cooper isn’t gonna produce enough to be worth it to start em’. Sit him down.

SLEEPER- CHI WR Allen Robinson II; NEW TEAM, WHO DIS? Coming off a torn ACL that sidelined him all last year with the Jacksonville. Now a No.1 option in as a Chicago Bear and a young gunslinger Mitchell Turbisky under snap, Allen is bond to have some big plays over the top. With Kahlil Mack on the defense that can help force Aaron Rodgers off the field and cause turnovers we could see more of Turbisky and potentially more looks for Robinson.

START EM’- JAX DEF; Rising up as a top 10 defense up against Eli Manning, who has been inconsistent last year with only two games passing over 300+ yards, and stars like Odell Beckham Jr. and Saquon Barkley the Jaguars to seem to have their hands full. With the very confident CB Jalen Ramsey to lock down Odell and the rest of the defense to pressure Eli and hold Barkley to under 80 yards in his first regular season game. The Jaguars are a for sure start.

SIT EM’- BUF DEF; Going up against a whole new receiver core (that I previously discussed earlier in this article)  and a running attack of Alex Collins and Javorius Allen the Bills don’t have enough to stop the offensive arsenal  of the Ravens. The Bills are a good pick for the rest of the season but for week 1, for me, it’s a sit.

SLEEPER- CAR DEF; Facing the Dallas Cowboys in week 1 the Carolina Panthers have Pro-Bowler Luke Kuechly back for a healthy season to help that defense become what it once was. The Cowboys have no No. 1 option for the young talent Dak Prescott to throw to. For example; the retirement of Jason Witten, no one at the TE position that has more than 9 career receptions on the roster, which poses a big problem.
