Oklahoma City’s star point guard Russell Westbrook had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee for the 3rd time in his career. He will likely be out for opening night of the NBA season when they travel to the bay area to take on the defending champion Golden state Warriors on October 16th.
The former league MVP will be re-evaluated in about four weeks.
The Thunder will look to rely heavily on their new 4yr/$137M man Paul George who they were able to resign in the off-season. George now gets the opportunity to show general manager Sam Presti and the Thunder organization that he’s worth the contract they decided to give him.
Either way the Thunder will only go as far as Westbrook takes them, he knows that as well as the Thunder. So preserving his health and getting him prepared for the 82 game grind and the way he plays the game with the force and rage…is a good decision.
