The man of the match was Daniel Royer who scored twice (39' & 80') for the New York Red Bulls in 2-1 win over LAFC. In the 53rd minute Diego Rossi tied the game with a incredible pass from Carlos Vela who split the defenders and Rossi put in to rest from inside the box.
Royer settled things in the 80th minute as Bradley Wright-Phillips set up his teammate. Running onto a long ball from Marc Rzatkowski, Phillips raced into the penalty area and slotted the ball to Royer, who slipped it home on the left side for a 2-1 advantage.
Next up the New York Redbulls they take on the Chicago Fire on Saturday, August 11 and LAFC heads to Houston to face the Houston Dynamo in the U.S. Open Cup.
