The Los Angeles Sparks lose their second straight and four of their last five after falling 89-86 to the Connecticut Sun on Sunday Afternoon. The Sparks in their final game of the regular season now turn their focus to the 2018 postseason where they will face the No. 7 seeded Minnesota Lynx. These final two road games against playoff teams (Washington & Connecticut) would be a test for the Sparks heading into the postseason to gauge where they are as a team, now after dropping those two and a quick turnaround for their first playoff game which will come Tuesday, they have to turn immediately to playoff mode.

This game against the Sun was the final chance for the Sparks to get a win against the Sun but fell short and was swept in three games. The sun were up by as many as 19 points in the third quarter and the Sparks on a Candace Parker made three with six seconds remaining cut the lead to two (88-86). Parker picked up a tech on a dead ball play with the Sun in bounding the ball with 1.2 seconds left on the clock that pushed the Sun led to 89-86.
Parker led the Sparks with a double-double with 20 points (7-16 FG) and 10 rebounds. Jantel Lavender who filled in for All-Star Nneka Ogwumike who sat out with a illness contributed with 17 points on 6-10 shooting. Chelsea Gray chipped in with 12 points but did not have a great night shooting shot 4-12 from the field but did have a team high 7 assist. Essence Carson had 14 points on the bench.
The Sun (21-13) who have swept the season series against Sparks and have locked up the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference have a lot of momentum going into the postseason.
They were led by Jasmine Thomas who led all scorers with 27 points (8-14 fg) and made 4 out of her 5 three point attempts, she also hit all seven of her free throw attempts. Jonquel Jones had 17 points and 9 rebounds and Courtney Williams chipped in with 13 points. The
The Sun now will wait the winner of the No. 5 seeded Phoenix Mercury and the No. 8 Seeded Dallas Wings in the second round.
