The Los Angeles Sparks (19-14) got beat at the buzzer in the nation’s capital falling 69-67 to the Mystics on Friday night. This loss did not affect the Sparks current seeding in the Western Conference as they still sit second behind the top-seeded Seattle Storm (25-8).

The Sparks led for most of the game and were up by as many 7 midway through the fourth but the Mystics were able to continue to cut into the Sparks led before ultimately tying the game at 67 before the game winning basket by Mystics guard Natasha Cloud. They had four starters in double figures with Riquna Wiliams leading the way in her second straight start with 14 points in 25 minutes. Candace Parker had 13 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assist and was also involved with a shouting match with Mystics forward Tianna Hawkins at the end of the first half. Chelsea Gray and Nneka Ogwumike both added 10 points.
The Mystics were led by the All-Star Elena Delle Donne who had a double-double with 16 points to lead all scorers and 10 rebounds which is also a game high didn’t take their first lead of the game until 8 minutes remaining in the second quarter. Former Sparks guard Kristi Tolliver contributed 12 and controlled the pace of the game despite going down to an ankle injury late in second quarter. They are now 22-11 on the season.
The Sparks now prepare for another quick turnaround on Sunday 8/19 @ Connectcut 12:00 PT.
