The Los Angeles Sparks fell at home (5th straight home loss) to the Atlanta Dream 81-71 on Tuesday night. They now are 15-11 heading into the All-Star Break and 4-6 in their previous 10 games.

After leading 41-37 at the half the Sparks were outscored by 14 in the second half. All-Star Chelsea Gray led the Sparks with 18 points (7-12 fg). All-Star Captain Candace Parker had 17 points and a game high 9 rebounds.
The Sparks got contributions from Essence Carson (11 points) and Jantel Lavender (10 points) who started in place for injured Nneka Ogwumike (illness). They made 14 of 15 of their free throw attempts. They now have eight days off until they play another game and they will look to get back on track when they welcome the Minnesota Lynx to Staples Center.

The Dream (16-9) were led by All-Star veteran Angel MCCoughtry who led all scorers 19 points (15 in first half) and had a team high 7 rebounds. She said after the game after just 4 points in the first half “that’s how good our team is, and I don’t always have to score.” She got just that from her teammates as starters Elizabeth Williams and Tiffany Hayes had 12 points each.
Brittney Sykes led all bench scorers with 13 points as the Dream bench outscored the Sparks 27-13. The Dream are now 9-1 in their last 10 as they approach the All-Star break.
