The Los Angeles Sparks (13-9) fall to the Dallas Wings 92-77 in afternoon start time game. The Sparks have lost 4 of their last 5 games and the Wings have won five straight and the season series over the Sparks 2-1.
The Wings (12-8) led by their All-Star Skylar Diggins-Smith double-double (22 points, 11 assist) had five players in double figures. Starters Elizabeth Cambage and Glory Johnson both scored in double figures, Cambage had 12 points and 6 rebounds and Johnson had 11 points and a team high 7 rebounds. The bench also contributed 39 points with Azura Stevens scoring 16 points and Cayla George chipping in with 12.
The Wings controlled the rebounding outrebounding the Sparks 36-27 with 12 of those coming on the offensive end. They were also a plus +6 in the assist category 22-16. The Wings now travel up to Seattle to take and the top seeded Storm (15-6) on Thursday 7/14.
The Sparks after picking up a huge win against the top seeded Seattle Storm this past Tuesday (77-75) have now fell to fifth in the Western Conference. They were led by Candace Parker who had 21 points (9-12 FT) and a team high 7 rebounds. She was also very efficient from the field going 6-11. Parker and her frontcourt partner Nneka Ogwumike (12 points) were the only two starters in double figures and the rest of the starters combined for just 13 points.
Riquna Williams was the only other player to score in double figures as she knocked down 4-6 from three and finishing with 16 points. The Sparks now travel to Nevada to take on the Las Vegas Aces on Saturday July 14th.
