Sparks handle Fever...

The Los Angeles Sparks have now won five straight by defeating the Indiana Fever 74-55 on Tuesday night. The Sparks now move to 9-2 on the season. The Fever start their 2018 season 1-11.

Candace Parker led the Sparks once again with 15 points on 7-12 shooting. She was the only starter to make a three. Chelsea Gray also scored in double figures with 14 points and a game high 7 assist. Nneka Ogwumike also chipped in with 12 points and a team high 7 rebounds. 

The Sparks found a way to get the win despite losing the rebounding category 45-29 (14 off). Coach Dan Hughes said after the game in a post game interview that giving up the 14 offensive rebounds "is not very good." So they will look to be better come Friday against the Dallas Wings.

The Indiana Fever who were looking to go for two straight after starting the season 0-11 played well and led after the first quarter 18-13. They led up until midway through the second quarter when the Sparks took the lead 25-24 with 5:48 remaining and were never able to catch them. Despite the rebounding advantage (45-29) and the plus side of the free throw line (+4) were still not able to close the deal. 

They were led by Natalie Anchonwa who had a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds. Tiffany Mitchell chipped in with 10 points. Their starters were outscored by the Sparks 50-35. They now will get a chance to get their second win of the season Friday against Breanna Stewart and the Seattle Storm.
