Los Angeles Sparks (3-1) win home opener 80-72 against the Phoenix Mercury (2-2) Chelsea Grey had a game high of 23 points, eight assist, and two rebounds. Candace Parker made her debut for Sunday's home opener even though she came off the bench midway through the first quarter.

Candace Parker finished with 10 points in her season debut after missing the first three games with a back injury. At halftime the LA Sparks were up 52-46, Phoenix (2-2) committed 10 of its 18 turnovers in the second half and shot 3 of 9 from the field, while being outscored 18-7 in the fourth quarter. Sancho Lyttle, scored a team high of 20 points for the Mercury.
After the game in an interview with LA Times parker said "I'm feeling good, Rhythm-wise, and obviously condition-wise, it's another story. But in terms of my back and my body, I feel good. I'm old, It's kind of one of those things."
Things look promising for the LA sparks if the can win against a tough opponent like the Phoenix Mercury with a Candace Parker that is still working on her conditioning.
