The Boston Celtics defeated the Milwaukee Bucks 112-96 on Saturday night to win a epic Game 7 at the TD Garden. The Celtics and Bucks came into this game having won each game on it’s own floor and neither team won in the opposing teams arena. The Bucks had to find a way to beat the odds and overcome to be the first number seven seed to defeat a number two seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs. They fell short and Celtics now move on to the Eastern Conference Semifinals.

The Celtics without their superstar Kyrie Irving heading into these playoffs were slight underdogs and they stuck together and found a way to get it done. They were led by Terry Rozier who was the backup to Irving coming in and filled in more than what they could have expected. He scored 26 points (5-8 from 3 pt) and had 9 assist, and 6 rebounds. All-Star Al Horford also had 26 points he was 13-17 from the field and had a team high 8 rebounds. Rookie Jayson Tatum who has contributed heavily in this series had 20 points and 6 rebounds and 5 assist.
The Celtics dominated the glass outrebounding the Bucks 42-32 (11 off) and they won the assist department 28-21. They also had 9 steals. The bench for the Celtics outscored the Bucks 33-12.

The Bucks who were led by their two stars all series Giannis Antetokoumpo and Kris Middleton did not get consistent help from anyone else on the roster. Middleton had a game high 32 points on 11-18 shooting and 5-9 from three. Antetokoumpo had 22 points (7-17 FG) but had to work for all of his baskets. The Celtics made sure not to let him get comfortable and get to his spots and whenever he had the ball they wanted to make sure he saw extra bodies. He had a team high 9 rebounds and 5 assist, so there were other ways he tried to make an impact without scoring.
Guard Eric Bledsoe had his best game of the series scoring 23 points on 9-12 shooting and was aggressive from the beginning. Those three had good enough games to win Game 7 but did not get help from anyone else to make a difference. There were six players off the bench who played and only two of them scored: Jabari Parker 9 points and Jason Terry had 3 points.
The Celtics will now prepare for a Sixers team many have picked to come out of the East. One thing we do know about the Celtics despite not having their best player is that they won’t back down and Coach Stevens will have them ready.
Game 1: Monday 4/29 5:00 PT
