The Washington Wizards finally get a win in this series against the Toronto Raptors defeating them 122-103 to win Game 3. This was a game they had to win and they got it done led by their All-Star backcourt of John Wall and Bradley Beal. The Wizards needed those two to play lights out to have chance to beat the number one seed in the East. They did just that.
Wall and Beal both with game highs combined for 56 points (28 each) and they controlled the game and played with emotion the Wizards fans wanted to see and their teammates desperately needed. Wall also had a game high in assist with 14. What the Wizards got from those two is what it’s going to take for the Wizards to have a legitimate chance to win this series. They also got a major and much needed contribution from their starting center Marcin Gortat’s (who did not score in Game 2) 16 points on 8-10 shooting.
The Wizards collectively played a balance game outrebounding the Raptors 39-34 and winning the assist category 29-20. They also forced 18 Raptor turnovers while only giving it away 11 times. Game 4 will be huge game for both teams. Will the Wizards duplicate what they did tonight and shift things back to the Air Cananda Centre tied at two games or will the Raptors take a commanding 3-1 series lead?
The Raptors star DeMar DeRozan who tied his playoff career high in Game 2 with 37 points, played well tonight leading the Raptors with 23 points (10-22 fg) but just wasn’t enough. Kyle Lowry helped with 19 points and 8 assist but the assignment he has with Wall wasn’t enough. Jonas Valanciunas chipped in with 14 points. The Raptors bench also contributed 32 points.
Game 4: Sunday 4/22 3:00 PT
