The Oklahoma City Thunder win game 1 against the Utah Jazz 116-108 in a back & forth game. The Thunder have been one of the more disappointing teams according to many because of their one game improvement from a year ago despite adding Carmelo Anthony and Paul George this past off season to help former MVP Russell Westbrook. This team was put together for this time of year and they started it off in the right direction.
They were led by All-Star Paul George who led all scorers with 36 points (8-11) from the three point line and had 7 rebounds. Westbrook was just two assist shy of another triple-double against this Jazz team scoring 29 points, grabbing 13 boards, and dishing out 8 assist. He started the game with a dunk for the Thunder and played with that emotion the rest of the game. Carmelo Anthony contributed 18 points and 7 rebounds.
The Jazz who were led by their rookie sensation Donavon Mitchell’s double-double scoring 27 points and 10 rebounds in his first ever playoff game just wasn’t enough. The Jazz got contributions from several different players, they had four players score 13 points or more. Gobert was second in scoring with 14 points and 7 rebounds. The Jazz bench played well outscoring the Thunder bench 34-17 but ultimately still wasn’t enough. The Jazz can take a lot of positives from this game heading to game 2 and they should make some minor adjustments. First thing first, run Paul George off that three point line.
What To Watch For Game 2: Can Jazz keep the Thunder from shooting the three so confidently?
