The Toronto Raptors beat the Washington Wizards in game 1 of the first round 114-106 on Saturday night. The Raptors win their first game 1 in ten years thanks to a double-double by Serge Ibaka who scored 23 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. The backcourt of DeMar Derozan and Kyle Lowry combined for 28 points on 10-28 shooting from the field. They will have to be more efficient in game 2 if they look to go up 2-0.
The Raptors benched once again showed up by outscoring the Wizards bench 42-21. The Raptors were also a plus 24 from three shooting 16-30. The bench will be a key for the Raptors this postseason and their success may come down to how consistent they will be.
The Wizards who came in healthy by having their All-Star John Wall back, played well enough to win this game but just came up short. Wall led with a double-double 23 points, dished out 15 assist and had 4 steals. First year All-Star Bradley Beal added 19 points. Markieff Morris contributed double-double scoring 22 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. They did not get much help from anyone else.
