The New Orleans Pelicans took down the Portland Trailblazers in game 1 on Saturday night 97-95. The Pelicans were the only team to win on the road on Saturday led by All-Star Anthony Davis. The Pelicans took control of this game from the beginning and had to hold off the Blazers late fourth quarter comeback.
The Pelicans Davis dominated the Blazers once again scoring 35 points, grabbing 14 rebounds, and blocking 4 shots. He was the best player on the court from beginning to end and there wasn’t anything the Blazers were really able to do about it. He got help from Jrue Holiday who chipped in with 21 points also played fantastic on ball defense against All-Star Damian Lillard which was a huge reason why Lillard struggled.
Nikola Mirotic alos contributed with a double-double scoring 16 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. They also got championship play and experience from Rajon Rondo who only scored 6 points but dished out 17 assist and grabbed 8 rebounds and control the floor and pace all-night.
The Blazers made it a game late in fourth quarter but struggled most of the game and were outplayed by the Pelicans. The combination of Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum combined for 3 points on 1-15 from the field in the first half and no free throw attempts. They finished with 37 points combined on 13-41 from the field.
The Blazers must get better play from their back court if they want to come away with a victory in game two because Anthony Davis will show up whether their ready or not.
