The first games of the playoffs are here and it just so happens to be my first article as a for NBA Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS). My choice in DFS is, of course, fan duel. The premier one-day fantasy site but everyone has their opinions. Let's begin with the relevant injury news.
Game time Decision: Otto Porter 5.9K (calf) He is Questionable check for his news before tipoff. No Porter, Consider Playing Kelly Oubre Jr at 4.4K. Although if that's the case Expect high ownership, Oubre.
Now that we got the injuries out of the way lets go into the Great Price plays
Kyle Lowry (6.9k): A great value price, 5x being 34.5 points seems reasonable. He is an all-around stat stuffer grabbing rebounds and assists and the cherry on top steals and blocks. Don't buy into the rhetoric that he isn't a great playoff player. This will be a fast-paced game featuring elite guard play by both teams. Could be a smart stack with DeRozan at (7 k) considering they both are very underpriced currently. You could pair him with Rondo at (6.1k) and still have money to go after the elite tier players.
Hassan Whiteside (7k): he is clearly the best center option and will be a problem for the Sixers without Embiid. 35 points with room to the holy grail, the 6x value, what every DFS players look for. I like Whiteside and I like his value and I like that he doesn't break the bank.
The Sneaky Stack
Anthony Davis (12.5k) + Nikola Mirtoic (7.7k) Davis has a high price. A lot of people will avoid him because of it. But, A Mirotic (7.7k) and Davis stack are so appealing to me with how they have both have played in the past month. Davis 62+ Mirotic 35= (assuming on 5x value) give over 100+ between two players which are superb numbers for two players, however, that might be higher due to the play of Mirotic with 43,52,50,55 over his last 4 games. he is fitting in with this pelicans team nicely. That is a stack worth taking a risk on, consider the over-under is the highest out of all the games today.
Dwayne Wade (4.4k) I'm going with experience on this one. For some reason, I love him for today. If he plays for 25 minutes+ which I think he will, he could go for 30 fantasy points, that is in the realm of possibilities. It's Dwayne Wade, he has more playoff experience than anyone on the court for both teams. That has to factor into something.
Evan Turner (3.5k) he stealing some of the minutes from Mo Harkless gets. His versatility for positions makes him an interesting dark horse especially if he gets hot shooting. A lot of risks but a lot of rewards if you if he gets hot shooting. He won't get many looks so he needs to hit on the ones that CJ and Dame pass up. Considering he will be playing against the Pelicans Small Forwards. It's an interesting play.
My Guy of the Night
Kevin Durant (10.9k) Its an easy pick. No Steph means more shots. No Kawhi means no one can guard him. He is one of the best players on the planet. Look for him to put up the high block he put up early on in the season. He's cheaper than Davis and gives you budget to go after a top guard or stack with the solid value around him. His counterpart Draymond Green at (7k) is also an interesting play but considering the over under is 219. I think having Durant in you lineup means the best possible outcome.
May the odds ever be in your favor!
