The Golden State Warriors visit the San Antonio Spurs on Monday in a nationally televised game. The Warriors (53-17) who are currently second in the Western Conference are three games behind the top seeded Houston Rockets (56-14).
The defending champion Warriors have been hit with a multitude of injuries: Stephen Curry (ankle), Klay Thompson (thumb), Kevin Durant (ribs).
They are fighting for a top seed in the conference, but with three consecutive trips to the finals the Warriors aren’t going to jeopardize key players health to chase the top seed.
The Spurs (40-30) who have won three straight are currently seventh in the Western Conference. And in a virtual tie with the Utah Jazz, and New Orleans Pelicans. A loss tonight can push them to the eighth seed.
This game is more meaningful for the Spurs because with the Western Conference being so congested from seeds 3-10 that one loss can change the entire landscape.
