Head coach Doc River’s went with first round pick Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (11th overall) in the starting lineup in place of Avery Bradley. Gilgeous-Alexander got his first start in place of Bradley after coming off the bench in the preseason opener against the Sydney Kings. He finished with 12 points in 24 minutes. He hit his first three shot attempts and made two of three from deep.
He said after the game in a post-game interview that he definitely felt more “comfortable” out there.
Tobias Harris and Danillo Gallinari led the way scoring with both eclipsing the 20 point mark. Harris led all scorers with 23 points in 23 minutes and Gallinari finished with 22 points in 21 minutes. They both combined to make six of the nine made threes by the team, while the Wolves made only four as a team.
The Clippers and Coach Doc will have several pieces to work with this upcoming season. Guys like Lou Williams (reigning sixth man of the year), Avery Bradley, and Luc Mbah a Moute all sat out of this one. Those are all guys Coach Rivers will rely on come regular season and if Gilgeous-Alexander continues to improve the Clippers will have some depth to work with.
