HOUSTON, TX — The Houston Texans finally look like the team we are accustomed to seeing before Deshaun Watson injury last year. Instead of playing from behind the Texans jumped on the Miami Dolphins early and didn’t look back. Watson tied his career high by throwing more touchdown passes than incompletions.
Watson went 16/20 239 yards 5 TD’s and no interceptions looking like the dynamic quarterback we saw coming off a national championship at Clemson. The pass protection was once again very good considering they didn’t give up a sack. He was secluded and wasn’t smashed around. In the red zone, Watson used his mobility to turn something into nothing and created open throwing lanes with some good pocket protection. If Watson can continue to stay on his feet and get healthy, Houston will be ready to reach its peak and play to its potential once the schedule gets vital.
Rookie Jordan Thomas caught the first two touchdown passes of his career, and DeAndre Hopkins had 82 yards receiving and two scores proving once again he has the best hands in the league. He had a spectacular catch that was called back due to offense interference on him. Will Fuller had five receptions 124 yards TD, but bad news was confirm that he suffered a Torn ACL which will be a major blow to that offensive fire power. Fuller has caught 11 touchdowns passes in 11 career games with Watson.
The Texans running back Lamar Miller, who grew up in Miami and spent his first four years with the Dolphins had 133 yards on 18 carries with touchdown. The Texans were able to establish the run and keep the Dolphins guessing on defensive. The Texans were 6-12 on third downs a perfect 4-4 in the red zone which is a dramatic improvement from there first three previous games.
The defensive set the tone early with JJ Watt making his presence felt putting pressure on Brock Osweiler and stopping the run.He is tied for the league lead again in sacks and filled up the stat sheet again with four tackles,a sack, two TFL,one QB hit and pass deflect.Rookie safety Justin Reid has established himself as one of the top players on the squad. He and Tyrann Mathieu are working very well together as a duo.Reid had a INT with 8 tackles while Mathieu had 7 tackles with sack.Kareem Jackson lead the defense with 9 tackles picking up the slack for Zack Cunningham who left the game with a knee injury.Jonathan Joseph also left the game with injury ,but the defense did not miss a beat making the Dolphins go 4-13 on 3rd downs.
The Texans followed up their strongest win of the year 20-7 over the Jaguars-with an even more impressive victory. Watson recorded more TD’s than incompletions. His 34 touchdown passes through15 games is also tied for second-most in NFL history.
The Texans will go out to Mile high Stadium November 4th to take on the Denver Broncos which could be a major test for Watson considering his lung injury.
