Clippers Lose Home Opener...

Los Angeles, CA.—The Los Angeles Clippers (0-1) lost their home opener on Wednesday night to the Denver Nuggets 107-98.

The new look Clippers couldn't put together a late run to get a victory at Staples Center. Head Coach Doc Rivers said in a post game interview "he didn't think his team did a very go good job executing" in the last three minutes of the game. The lack of execution in the final minutes may have resulted in the loss.

Second year Clipper Tobias Harris led the Clippers with a double-double scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds. Boban Marjanovic was very productive off the bench with 18 points and 8 rebounds. Danillo Gallinari who fouled out in 34 minutes finished with 16 points. 

The Clippers back court Avery Bradley and Patrick Beverly combined to go 0-7 from three. 

The bench contributed 49 of the 98 points with reigning Sixth Man of the Year Lou Williams and rookie Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and Marjanovic were a key reason why. Williams (14 points), Marjanovic (18 points), and Gilgeous-Alexander (11 points). 

The Nuggets (1-0) who were 1 game out of the final playoff spot in the 2018 playoffs comes into the 2018-2019 season with expectations for the postseason.

They had balanced scoring with four of their starters in double figures. Nikola Jokic led all scorers with 21 points to go along with 8 rebounds. "He said after the games "We closed out the game well, made some shots and defended well."

Gary Harris also put up 20 points on 6-16 shooting. Will Barton also poured in 19 points (13 in 1st half). 

Paul Millsap who did not have a big night scoring, but did end the game with a double-double with 11 points and 16 rebounds. He was 1-7 from the field and said after the Nuggets win "That's what mature basketball teams do. When everything's not going well they find ways to win, and "We stayed with it, didn't panic and were able to execute down the stretch."

The Nuggets found a way to win despite it's bench being outscored 49-29. 

Clippers will welcome Paul George and the Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday 10/19 @ 7:30 PT.
