El Paso Tx – Its clear that the US national team needs a whole reboot in their management and their squad they keep demonstrating that their strategies are not working and the ambition of having a great start to 2019 keep falling but the hopes for all US fans keep standing tall. What can the USMNT possibly do to change this slump around and become the powerhouse they have history in living up to be?
Let’s break down yesterday’s match to see if we have a clear answer to what needs to be done.
The starting lineup seemed a bit off and didn’t seem to confident specially against a team that just came off a World Cup performance that showed that the team has potential and is a top tier team that can really give any European team a hard time. That isn’t an excuse to what we saw last night, and the team needs a lot of reevaluation on their lineups which players work with each other and what strategies can be set up to win and be prepared for the Gold Cup next year and upcoming tournaments.
The us team only had 2 shots on goal and a super low 38% ball possession which had Colombia dominating majority of the game. The only player to really stand out and had a total of 83 minutes of play was Bobby Wood definitely a great addition to the team and will be a clear factor to the growth of the team.
The two goals of the US team which were clearly not enough to catch up to the 4 scored by the Colombians were both in the second half from Kellyn Acosta at the 50’ minute and Bobby wood at the 53’ minute.
Here the highlights of yesterdays match:
Hopefully this team will straighten things out and perform better in their upcoming match against Peru on the 16th of October at 5:30pm mountain time.
